Spurs to win at home
Bet 1: Back Tottenham 19/20 – KO 16:30 BST
Tottenham have an interesting campaign ahead as they begin their first full season under Jose Mourinho. He has added a couple of new faces to the squad during the break, with both Matt Doherty and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg both expected to start this afternoon.
It is a similar story for Everton, as Carlo Ancelotti, joined the club part-way through the previous campaign. The Toffees finished last year very poorly, and their supporters won’t put up for more of the same.
Allan, Doucoure and Rodriguez have been bought in by the Italian, and it is highly likely that all three will see some game-time today – even if they don’t all start.
Spurs are my pick, as overall I feel they are definitely the stronger team. Doherty will add good energy down the right-hand side, and Mourinho was hindered last term by injuries to his attackers.
Levante’s away woes to continue
Bet 2: Back Valencia @ 6/5 – KO 20:00 BST
The selection didn’t do too well post-lockdown, and they ended up finishing in ninth place. They have appointed a new manager since then, with ex Watford boss, Javi Gracia, handed the reins.
I expect them to make a positive start to this new season, as not only do they have home advantage, they are up against Levante.
The visitors ended last year in 12th place, but they were beaten in 12 of their 19 away matches, and it’s hard to see them turning it around at the Mestalla.
PSG to flop again
Bet 3: Back Marseille +1 Goal @ 13/10 – KO 20:00 BST
PSG fell to a shock defeat in their opening match of the season on Thursday, and now Thomas Tuchel has to negotiate a much tougher fixture – and he is still without the likes of Neymar, Mbappe, Draxler and Di Maria.
Marseille, on the other hand, have a full squad at their disposal, and André Villas-Boas will be hoping that his team can take advantage of the situation at Parc des Princes.
They won their opening fixture at Brest a fortnight ago, and they finished the previous season by going eight undefeated on the road – winning six of them.
