Stoke’s run to come to an end
Bet 1: Back Aston Villa @ 4/7 – KO 19:00 BST
The Villans have made a flying start to the season – winning both cup games and both league games too. Dean Smith’s men may have struggled last year, but they have made some shrewd signings, which was added to earlier this week with the acquisition of Ross Barkley on loan.
Tonight they take on a Stoke side that have already knocked out Wolves and Gillingham – with the win over the Premier League side coming at Molineux.
The Potters also recorded an away win at Preston on Saturday, but Villa are in such good form, and more importantly, they take this competition seriously.
More of the same at Anfield
Bet 2: Back Liverpool @ 17/20 – KO 19:45 BST
Three days on from their Premier League clash, Liverpool and Arsenal meet again at Anfield, and while not many of the same players will be on the pitch, I expect a similar kind of result.
The Reds have added a couple of strong squad players to their ranks over the summer and they already had a very promising youth team coming through.
The loss on Monday was Arsenal’s first defeat of the campaign, so they too have made a good start. That being said, Mikel Arteta will no doubt rotate his XI too, and he doesn’t have as many options to choose from.
No clean sheet for Barcelona
Bet 3: Back BTTS in Celta Vigo v Barcelona @ 6/10 – KO 20:30 BST
Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona made an emphatic start to their La Liga campaign by beating Villarreal 4-0. Lionel Messi scored once during that win, and he will remain a Barca player for at least one more season.
Tonight they travel to Celta Vigo in a match that Koeman will be desperate to win. They likely will take the points, but a second successive clean sheet seems unlikely.
The hosts have already played three times this term, and they are yet to be beaten – two draws and a win. Their two latest outings saw both teams score, and they are usually good for goals on their own patch.
