Saturday Football Tips: Rayo to run riot at home again

Rayo Vallecano have the best home record in Spain and have a habit of getting the job done by half time, and our stats column is backing them to do it again against Alaves…

If ever there was a Jekyll and Hyde team based on whether they were playing at home or away, then it’s Rayo Vallecano, who play like world beaters on home turf and amateurs on their travels.

They’re unbeaten with seven wins out of eight at their home on the outskirts of Madrid, earning two more points in games on their own patch than neighbours Real Madrid have managed at the Bernabeu.

However, away from home they’re just plain awful, winning just one of their nine games and losing six when scoring just seven goals in almost a mirror image of their homne form.

Rayo’s home success has been built on starting quickly, with six of their eight top-flight matches at the Campo de fútbol de Vallecas seeing them score inside the first half an hour, earning them five HT/FT victories.

And they’re huge favourites to add another home win to the list when facing Alaves, who you know are a bad away side as they’ve won the same amount of away points as Vallecano themselves (five).

Alaves have also suffered three HT/FT defeats and as such a poor away team this looks a prime candidate for another one.

Rayo aren’t that bad a price just to win this one actually at around 1.845/6 on the exchange given that the stats are so heavily stacked in their favour.

But those half time/full time numbers are too good to ignore and need following when opportunities like this pop up.
