Wolfsburg v Lille: French champions will avoid defeat

Lille are in form and Dan Fitch has his money on them taking at least a point against Wolfsburg.

“Based on current form, there has to be value in the visitors. Their only defeat so far in this competition, came in their 2-1 defeat at Salzburg and they have won their last two games to move top of the group on eight points (P5 W2 D2 L1).”

Back Lille double chance against Wolfsburg at 1.75/7

All to play for in Group G

Wolfsburg are bottom of Group G, but a win would see them move ahead of the leaders Lille and into the last-16 of the Champions League.

Only three points separates bottom from top in the group. Wolfsburg are in the strange position of it being impossible for them to finish third and qualify for the Europa League, while knowing that a win would see them finish second.

The Germans have an inferior head-to-head record against both third placed Sevilla and second placed Red Bull Salzburg, but a victory against Lille would see the two teams move level on points, with Wolfsburg having the better head-to-head record. Yet despite knowing what they have to do to progress, Wolfsburg are in poor form, with their 3-0 defeat at Mainz over the weekend, meaning that they have now gone four games without a win (D1 L3).

In contrast, Lille have started to find some form. They are unbeaten in seven after their 2-1 win against Troyes on Saturday (W4 D3). Eleventh in Ligue 1, they are still drawing too many games, but a point would be enough on this occasion to see them safely through to the last-16.

Lille are the side in form

Wolfsburg are the favourites at 2.47/5, with Lille at 3.259/4 and the draw at 3.55/2.

Based on current form, there has to be value in the visitors. Their only defeat so far in this competition, came in their 2-1 defeat at Salzburg and they have won their last two games to move top of the group on eight points (P5 W2 D2 L1).

As discussed, a point would be enough for Lille to make it through and you can back them to avoid defeat in the Double Chance market at 1.75/7.
