Thursday Football Tips: Back two Red Devils to see yellow

Paul Higham brings you a huge 20/1 Bet Builder double on a Manchester United duo to get booked against battling Burnley.

There’s a new regime at Old Trafford but it looks like the same old routine so far under Ralf Rangnick and who knows what team will turn up against Burnley on Thursday night.

Rangnick is unbeaten since taking charge of United’s expensively assembled but underperforming outfit, but getting a rare Fred winner to edge out Crystal Palace, a Ronaldo penalty and David De Gea Man of the Match display to beat lowly Norwich and a largely undeserved late point at Newcastle are performances that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got the sack for.

Next up is Sean Dyche’s Burnley side, languishing in the relegation zone with just one win to their names so far this season. This has to be am emphatic home win right?

Yet there are doubts. Burnley haven’t played since 12 December so could be fresh and firing or a bit rusty, plus they’ve got a solid recent record at Old Trafford with just one defeat in their last five visits. They’ve also scored first in three of the last four visits.

So, while you can’t really predict anything with any certainty in the Premier League right now, we can safely assume Burnley will give it a good go and prove tough to beat.

We also know all is not well inside the Man Utd camp with Ronaldo storming off after the Newcastle game and reported unrest at Rangnick daring to ask them to train a bit harder to bed in a new system.

Man Utd are also quietly dirty, with just two sides seeing more yellow cards this season and with everything that’s going on, a stubborn Burnley side could produce just the conditions for tempers to flare again.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a prime candidate for a booking here if things don’t go his way – as he always is in fairness – and even after his antics at Newcastle you doubt if Rangnick is big enough to drop him for this one.

Ronaldo’s been booked four times in the league this season, and two of those should’ve been red really including in the last game at St James’ Park – and the theme of them all is the pressure and game situation leading to Ronaldo blowing his top.

Late on at Chelsea, when behind against Man City and when being embarrassed by Liverpool are the three previous occasions when Ronaldo’s ego was bruised enough for him to lash out before a similar incident when losing to Newcastle.

Being held, or even worse, by Burnley in front of some frustrated fans at Old Trafford would surely bring another Ronaldo booking at a big price of 5.59/2.

But that big price can be turned into a whopping one by adding in out-of-sorts Man Utd skipper Harry Maguire into the mix as a 3.7511/4 chance to get booked.

He’ll likely be facing the muscular Chris Wood and he’s looked far from comfortable at the back for some time – picking up six yellow cards and a red this season.

Maguire was also booked at Newcastle and it’s not much of a stretch to see him getting another one here and land us a huge winner.
