The top spot in Groups A and B are still up for grabs in World Cup Qualifying, and Paul Robinson features both of them in his 4/1 Daily Acca. Here are his selections:
Ronaldo to lead Portugal to Qatar
Bet 1: Back Portugal @ 6/10 – KO 19:45 GMT
Portugal’s draw in Ireland on Thursday would have been a disappointing result for the Euro 2016 champions, but in reality, it makes no real difference to the state of play in Group A.
Fernando Santos’ side would have still needed a point against Serbia to win the group, and a draw would still do.
I don’t expect them to leave it that close though, and they are a good price to win in Lisbon – even if they are without the suspended, Pepe.
The visitors are in good form – six without a defeat – but two of those matches were against Qatar, two were against Luxembourg, one with Ireland and one with Azerbaijan.
Swedes to come up short in Spain
Bet 2: Back Spain @ 2/5 – KO 19:45 GMT
Sweden’s shock 2-0 defeat in Georgia has left them with a mountain to climb to win Group B, as instead of needing to just draw in Spain this evening, they have to win.
They did manage to beat them in the reverse fixture in September, but I just can’t see them repeating that in Seville.
Luis Enrique’s men are starting to become one of the best teams in the world again, and they will be a real threat at Qatar 2022.
They were unlucky to lose in the Nations League Final, but they beat Italy to get there, and they put in a professional performance to win in Greece on Thursday.
Irish to finish on a high
Bet 3: Back Republic of Ireland 6/5 – KO 19:45 GMT
Ireland are a bit of a slow-burner under Stephen Kenny, and they extended their unbeaten run to five in their draw with Portugal in the week.
They have a chance of finishing third in Group A tonight, but they will need to win at Luxembourg to achieve it.
The hosts won in Azerbaijan in the week, but prior to that they had lost six of their previous eight – including a 5-0 defeat to Portugal in October.
