The hosts have been flying in the league this season, as well as in the Copa Sudamericana. They head into this Copa do Brasil tie on the back of two victories, and I expect them to build a first leg lead.

At home they are unbeaten in 11 in all competitions – eight of which were victories. They beat Internacional on their latest appearance here, and they have scored two or more in each of their last six.

Atletico GO are their opponents, and while they are enjoying a decent campaign of their own, they have lost two of their last three, and they were beaten on this ground in June.

Another team who are flying high in Brazil’s top flight this term are Atletico MG, and they have also just knocked Boca Juniors our of the Copa Libertadores.

Tonight they take on Bahia in the Brazilian Cup, and this is a side who they just beat 3-0 in the league at the weekend.

That was Bahia’s third straight defeat, which included a 5-0 drubbing at home to Flamengo. Their early season form seems to have deserted them, and it’s hard to see them being overly competitive here.

Brazilian heavyweights to get their mojo back

Bet 3: Back Sao Paulo @ 4/7 – KO 01:30 BST (Thurs)

The selection have struggled in Serie A so far this season, but they are a much better side than their current position of 17th suggests.

They seem to be able to put in their best performances in cup competitions though, as after making it through the group stage of the Copa Libertadores, they have just knocked out Racing Club in the round of 16.

Vasco da Gama are a Serie B team, who were relegated from the top flight last term. They are sixth in that division, and while they are unbeaten in six, this represents a great opportunity for Sao Paulo to boost their confidence.
