Saturday Sports Multiple: A Newcastle draw the headline in a 7/1 weekend wager

Newcastle have four points on the board following their last gasp draw against Tottenham, but they haven’t been impressive in any of their three Premier League games so far and Burnley can take advantage to pick up a point on Saturday.

Admittedly, the Clarets aren’t in great shape at the moment, having lost both of their top-flight games so far and they’re suffering from a significant injury list, so will have to draw on all of their battling qualities here.

The good news for Sean Dyche and his team is that Newcastle don’t create many chances. In fact, they’ve managed just three shots on target in 270 minutes of Premier League football this season. Even missing one or two key players, Burnley have the ability to keep the home side at bay and pick up their first point of the campaign.

This year’s IPL looks wide open and Saturday’s first game features two teams who have shown the potential to lift the trophy.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are the nearly-men of the IPL and have made a typically inconsistent start, beating Hyderabad and reigning champions Mumbai either side of a thrashing by Kings XI Punjab, while Rajasthan lost their 100% record when they slipped up in their third game, against Kolkata on Wednesday.

The Royals have potent match-winners in their line-up, but they’ve yet to decide on their best batting order, while Bangalore’s star batsmen, Aaron Finch, A B De Villiers and Virat Kohli look settled in their top order. This could be a close one, but I’m backing the Bangalore big hitters to give them the edge.

Wigan have won more Challenge Cups than any side in rugby league history and they are odds on to reach another final by beating Leeds this weekend.

Leeds go into this encounter in good form, having won their last three in Super League. But all three of those wins came against teams below them in the table, and they were well beaten last time they met the Warriors, back in August.

Wigan have shown some inconsistency over the last few weeks and a 42-0 thrashing by Super League leaders St Helens on Tuesday was not the best warm-up for this game, but they look the stronger side and have enough Challenge Cup experience to make them the solid favourites here. Back them to reach another final showpiece.
