Premier League Treble: Everton to have no trouble against Huddersfield

Bet 1: Back Crystal Palace @ 1/1 – KO 15:00 BST

The Eagles won their opening game at Fulham, but since then they have been beaten 2-0 at home by Liverpool and they also lost 2-1 at Watford last Sunday. They are back at Selhurst Park today and I’m expecting them to get back to winning ways.

Roy Hodgson’s side have arguably performed better than their three point tally suggests and if they could just be a bit more clinical in front of goal, they could have a decent campaign.

Christian Benteke is really struggling for form, and it will be interesting to see if he retains his starting place, He didn’t feature during the 1-0 win at Swansea in the EFL Cup during the week, and replacement, Alexander Sørloth took his chance by scoring the winning goal.

The visitors to Selhurst Park this weekend are Southampton, with the Saints struggling under Mark Hughes. The former Stoke boss may have managed to get them out of the relegation zone last year, but this season has started with a 0-0 draw at home to Burnley and 2-1 defeats to both Everton and Leicester.

A 1-0 cup win at Brighton on Tuesday will give the players some confidence, but I’m not hopeful of a good season for them, and I strongly fancy Palace to take all three points here.

Simon Mail is also predicting a Crystal Palace win.

Bet 2: Back Everton @ 1/2 – KO 15:00 BST

I am quite surprised that Everton are as big as 1/2 to beat Huddersfield at Everton, and that’s even with Richarlison suspended.

The Toffees have taken five points from a possible nine so far this term, and they have scored two goals in each game. I appreciate that the suspended Brazilian is responsible for half of them, but they have other goalscorers in the side – including a rejuvenated Theo Walcott who has two of them.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin took his chance during the week, with a brace in an EFL Cup win, so he could be in line for some more pitch-time in this one.

Opponents, Huddersfield, have played three, lost three, scored one and conceded nine. Tough opening fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester City are mitigating factors in that, but they could only draw 0-0 at home to Cardiff last Saturday.

David Wagner’s side again failed to find the net in the cup on Tuesday at Stoke, and I find it hard to believe that they will be able to keep up with Everton’s scoring.

Bet 3: Back Wolves @ 15/8 – KO 15:00 BST

This selection will prove unpopular with West Ham fans, but I fancy Wolves to turn them over at the London Stadium, in a result that would keep them on zero points after four games.

Marko Arnautovic is set to be fit for this clash according to Manuel Pellegrini, but there must be question marks regarding his level of fitness as he only limped off at Arsenal seven days ago.

The Hammers avoided an embarrassing EFL Cup exit at Wimbledon on Tuesday, as they had to come back from 1-0 down to eventually win 3-1 – two late goals – and that’s even with Wimbledon being reduced to 10 men in the 18th minute.

Wolves are yet to record a Premier League win since their return to the top flight, but they have certainly performed with credit. They drew 2-2 with Everton in their season-opener, and then went down 2-0 at Leicester in a game that they deserved at least a point from.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side then played really well in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City last Saturday, and they built on that to win 2-0 at Sheffield Wednesday in the cup.

The visitors are definitely the value for this match, in my opinion, and with the home fans ready to turn on their team in an instant, Wolves could well take advantage.
