It’s two tips from League One and one from the Championship for the NTT20 team this week as they go in search of a 15/2 winning treble…
“Doncaster are the better side, with better players putting in better performances and are the team for who there is a clear incentive to win this game, so any odds-against should be snapped up.”
Basement battle to go way of home side
Billed as ‘El Crapico’ this tussle between two sides propping up League One and destined for the drop might not catch the eye for most football fans, but there is some value to be had backing the home side.
While not mathematically down, everybody involved with Crewe has accepted their fate and the preparations start now to ensure this slide doesn’t end in non-league. Fourteen defeats in their last 15 show that this is a side who would likely struggle in the league below and there is little in the way of incentive now beyond ending the miserable losing run.
For Doncaster, while results aren’t much better, they have shown a great deal more in recent defeats against Wycombe and Charlton, but they at least come into this home game knowing that a win would keep them in touch with safety and keep the hope alive.
Doncaster are the better side, with better players putting in better performances and are the team for who there is a clear incentive to win this game, so any odds-against should be snapped up.
Beach party to produce goals
We are at the stage of the season now when some clubs pack the training cones away, grab the towels and head to the beach, and Accrington have been there for so long that John Coleman is now seemingly hosting a weekly beach party.
For every season that the Accrington boss steers them to mid-table safety it is a miraculous job well done, so it’s no shock to see Stanley celebrate mid-table mediocrity with reckless abandon. Seven of their last eight games have covered the over 2.5 goal line with a 4-4 and 3-2 in their for good measure.
Their opponents here need to win for their own safety ambitions with a draw doing them little good, so with no reason at all for Accrington to do anything other than set up to attack themselves this should be another entertaining day on the beach courtesy of Coleman and Accrington Stanley.
Tykes to escape Lions den unscathed
Despite Barnsley having just won one of their last five games, the form is much improved and, so long as they still have the slightest chance of chasing Reading down in the Championship relegation battle, they are a side worth supporting under Poya Asbaghi.
The signings of Domingos Quina and Amine Bassi have made them a far more potent force going forward, while they are well drilled defensively and are proving stubborn opposition to any side at the moment.
Millwall’s bubble burst last time out as they were beaten by Swansea at The Den, all but destroying any hope of a late charge for the play-offs. It would be no surprise to see the home side struggle to bounce back after that deflating defeat and they are worth opposing here.
