Tobias Gourlay’s on his way to Japan to see the Cherry Blossoms in action this Friday morning
Urawa v C-Osaka
Friday 11:30
In the MLS last night, Houston Dynamo raced into a 2-0 half-time lead over Minnesota United, but then the game stalled. It finished 2-0 at full time to leave us a couple of goals short of where we wanted to be.
We move on. In Japan, both teams have scored in seven of Urawa Red Diamonds’ last eight J-League games. We fancy they can make it 8/9 at home to Miguel Angel Lotina’s Cerezo Osaka on Friday morning.
Home and away, the Red Diamonds have managed just one clean sheet from their last 16 league games. At Saitama Stadium this term, they have conceded at least once in 10/12. At the other end, they have recently scored in five straight home matches after a patchy start to the campaign.
Since Cerezo Osaka returned to Japan’s top flight in 2017, both teams have scored in all five of their meetings with the Red Diamonds. Right now, the fourth-placed Cherry Blossoms are on a winning streak of three, having scored twice in each of those matches. On the road this term, they have conceded in 8/13 and we’re backing both teams to find the back of the net in this one.
