Drogheda are headed to Derry in the Irish Premier Division and Tobias Gourlay’s expecting some proper Friday-night entertainment
Derry City v Drogheda
Friday 19:45
In Slovenia yesterday, no one turned the tap on. The goals never came and Mura drew 0-0 with Zalgiris.
We’ve crossed the Irish Sea to take in this evening’s Irish Premier Division game between Derry City and Drogheda United. These two are sixth and fifth in the 10-team league and we fancy they can both get on the score-sheet today.
Derry are mid-table despite winning only one of their first 11 home games of the campaign (W1-D6-L4). They are favourites today but perhaps won’t have everything their own way.
Since returning to the top flight this season, Drogheda have already met today’s opponents twice, drawing 1-1 in Derry and losing 1-2 at home. Their overall away record is a solid W4-D3-L4. The Drogs have scored in 9/11 of those games and should fancy their chances of netting tonight.
Derry have managed just a single clean sheet from 11 appearances at Brandywell Stadium. The Candy Stripes have only failed to score themselves when hosting top-of-the-table Shamrock Rovers. With both teams scoring in 9/11 of those games, that’s our even-money bet for today.
