Football Bet of the Day: Back Vikings for victory

We’re off to Iceland for tonight’s action, and Kev’s backing hosts Vikingur Reykjavik to enhance their impressive home record.

Hosts to maintain home streak

Vikingur Reykjavik v Keflavik
Thursday 28 April, 20:15

It turns out Udinese weren’t on the beach after all. They thrashed Fiorentina 4-0 last night, and we move on.

We’ll start one of our traditional summer pursuits, which is to keep an eye on the Icelandic top flight, the Urvalsdeild. Keflavik have started the season with back-to-back defeats, and they make the trip to face capital club Vikingur Reykjavik.

Since the league opened up after the pandemic, Vikingur’s home record has been excellent. They have won nine and drawn three of their 12 Urvalsdeild matches at the Vikingsvollur, and for our purposes it’s worth noting there has been a first-half goal in all but one of those games. This season, Vikingur beat FH 2-1, but then lost 3-0 at IA Akranes.

Keflavik have lost 4-1 at Breidablik and 1-0 at home to Valur, and they have lost 20 of their last 30 away games at this level. Their last four trips to face Vikingur have seen them lose 7-1, 3-1, 1-0 and 1-0.

I’ll back VIkingur to win this, but we need to find a way to boost their price of 1.351/3. If we use the Bet Builder to back Over 0.5 First Half Goals but Under 4.5 Goals overall, we come out with a decent price of 2.186/5. If you look at Vikingur’s last 12 home games in the league, only one of them has featured five goals or more.
