Football Bet of the Day: Back the Borg to strike

After a frustrating setback in Norway, Kev’s hoping for a better result in Sweden, as second faces second-bottom in the top flight.

Mismatch could yield goals

Malmo v Helsingborg
Wednesday 05 August, 18:00

We suffered a stinging blow in Norway last night, as Sogndal delivered the first two of the three goals we needed in the first 19 minutes of their win at Lillestrom, but no further goals arrived. As a Norwegian curse or two rides the breeze, we head to Sweden. Malmo are up against Helsingborg, and we’re once again on the hunt for goals.

Malmo have made a strong start to the Allsvenskan season, claiming 25 points from their first 12 games to sit joint-top alongside Norrkoping. They have won their last five matches, scoring 15 goals in the process.

Interestingly for our purposes, Malmo aren’t keeping that many clean sheets. Seven of their 12 league games this term have seen both teams score, as did their recent Swedish Cup exit at IFK Goteborg.

Helsingborg have won just one of their first 12 league games, and only rock-bottom Kalmar have a lower points total. However, they have put together a run of five straight draws, and they are unbeaten in seven matches. Both teams have scored in five of those games, and Helsingborg have only failed to score once in that sequence.

Helsingborg have scored in three of their last four away games, and I think they can score here. I’ll back Both Teams To Score at [2.2].
