Dutch masters are flying
Borussia Dortmund will be looking for revenge, having been humiliated by Ajax in the reverse fixture.
Ajax ran out as 4-0 winners at home against the German giants. They are top of Group C, having won all three of their games. This included another big win that came as a surprise, with Ajax having won 5-1 at Sporting Lisbon in their opening game.
The fact that Ajax are doing so well, after losing a number of their best players over recent years, is a testament to their manager Erik ten Hag, who is becoming one of the most coveted coaches in Europe. After thrashing Dortmund, Ten Hag’s team followed that up with a 5-0 drubbing of PSV, who they hold a two point lead over, at the top of the Eredivisie.
Since losing to Ajax, Dortmund have bounced back with three straight domestic wins. This included a 2-0 home victory against Cologne on Saturday, which leaves them a point behind the leaders Dortmund in the Bundesliga. Dortmund are also in second spot in Group C, with six points from a possible nine.
Ajax scoring at quite a rate
Borussia Dortmund are the narrow favourites at 2.6213/8, just ahead of Ajax at 2.6613/8 and the draw at 4.03/1.
The hosts have won eight of their nine home games this season, but you wouldn’t back against Ajax adding another defeat to that tally. At the very least you would expect the visitors to make this game extremely competitive.
Ajax have scored eleven goals in their three Champions League matches, which is an average of 3.66 goals-per-game. You can back them to score over 1.5 goals at 1.9110/11.
