“Man City have regularly toiled when travelling to a raucous Anfield, whilst Guardiola has lost more games against Klopp than against any other opposing manager in his career.”

Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa
Sunday, 14:00

Tottenham has lost three in a row in the Premier League but they scored five in midweek, including a Harry Kane hat-trick, so they will hope to carry that momentum into Sunday’s match.

Tom Victor says: “After being blown away by Arsenal in last weekend’s derby, Spurs boss Nuno Espírito Santo will be desperate for a response at home to an Aston Villa side who came from behind to win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in May.

“Infogol backs the home side against opponents who had lost their first two on the road before winning at Old Trafford, but the momentum of that late victory is something Dean Smith will want to turn into something bigger.”

Espanyol 5.24/1 v Real Madrid 1.715/7; The Draw 4.1
Sunday 3 October, 15:15
Live on LaLigaTV and Betfair Live Video

Real Madrid suffered a humiliating defeat in the Champions League this week and it came as a shock because their domestic form has been strong. They are 1.68/13 for the title ahead of Sunday’s trip to Catalonia.

Dan Fitch says: “Real Madrid went into their midweek fixture, unbeaten in their first eight games of the season (W6 D2). Nevertheless they were defeated 2-1 at home by Sheriff, who are the first team from Moldova to have ever competed in the group stage of the Champions League.

“This defeat followed on from a 0-0 draw at home to Villarreal in La Liga last weekend, so there is a pressure on the table leaders to get back to winning ways at Espanyol, with three sides within three points of Real. They are expected to do just that, with Espanyol having not made a great start to the season, only earning six points from seven games so far (W1 D3 L3).

“We have to assume that Real Madrid’s quality will tell, but with their goals having dried up in the last week and with Espanyol having only conceded once at home in three games, any victory could be narrow.”

Dan’s bet: Back Real Madrid to beat Espanyol and under 3.5 goals at 2.56/4

Liverpool v Manchester City

Live on Sky Sports Main Event & Sky Sports Premier League

The Premier League saves the best till last this weekend. Champions Man City are 2.0811/10 to retain their crown with Liverpool 5.79/2 ahead of their Anfield showdown.

Mark O’Haire says: “Liverpool suffered their first defeat in 17 home Premier League matches with Manchester City in the duos most recent Anfield encounter (W12-D5-L1). The Reds were in the midst of an unfortunate injury crisis back then and started with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho as their centre-back partnership, which resulted in the Citizens running out 4-1 victors.

“Liverpool are the only side still unbeaten in the Premier League this term (W4-D2-L0) with Jurgen Klopp’s outfit also netting more goals than any other side (15). The Reds are now unbeaten in 16 (W12-D4-L0) Premier League games and have produced significantly strong underlying performance data metrics during their resurgence since March.

“Manchester City are again projecting as the team to beat this season yet Pep Guardiola’s side have notched no more than a solitary strike in four of six league fixtures. Nevertheless, the Citizens boast the best defence, and haven’t faced a shot on target in three of their six encounters thus far despite a difficult opening schedule.”

Mark’s bet: Back Liverpool +0 & 0.5 Asian Handicap at 1.855/6

Ariminia Bielefeld v Bayer Leverkusen: Wirtz-inspired Bayer to win again

Arminia Bielefeld v Bayer Leverkusen

Live on Betfair Live Video

Bayer Leverkusen are second in the table following an excellent start to the season. They are 14.013/1 for the title, though, so bettors remain confident that you know who will win the Bundesliga again. Gerardo Seoane will be keen for his men to keep up the pressure this Sunday.

Kevin Hatchard says: “Leverkusen have collected 13 points from their first six games, and the likes of Patrik Schick, Moussa Diaby and Florian Wirtz have stood out in attack.

“Wirtz has been particularly good, and continues to make the jaw drop at the age of just 18. He is the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach ten top-flight goals, and he is making the sport look very straightforward. At the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper and captain Lukas Hradecky is in excellent form, and a good partnership has formed at centre-back between Odilon Kossounou and Jonathan Tah.

“Arminia Bielefeld’s problem since winning promotion to the Bundesliga has been offensive production, and they are still struggling to score goals. Frank Kramer’s men have netted just three goals in six matches, and they are still looking for their first Bundesliga win of the season. Summer signings Patrick Wimmer and Robin Hack have given them a bit more unpredictability in attack, but the loss of last season’s standout performer Ritsu Doan has been keenly felt.”

Kevin’s bet: Back Bayer Leverkusen to win v Arminia Bielefeld at Under 4.5 Goals at 2.01/1

Atalanta v AC Milan
Sunday October 3, 19:45
Live on BT Sport 1

Milan’s late loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League hurt and the Rossoneri will need to quickly regroup as Atalanta need no invitation to pile on the misery.

Chloe Beresford says: “Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata has two goals in his last three appearances against Milan, and he will certainly be ready for this encounter after bagging two goals and an assist in his last four Serie A outings.

“There have been 11 goals in the last three games between these two teams in Bergamo, and the tip here is for another high scoring encounter. Back Zapata to score first and Atalanta to win available at odds of 7.44 providing a good value option.”

Chloe’s bet: Zapata to score first and Atalanta to win @ 7.44

St Etienne vs Lyon (20th vs 7th)
Sun, 19:45 BST
Live on BT Sport 3 and Betfair Live Video

This is one of the fiercest derbies in France and, based on the form, the cards looked to be stacked in Lyon’s favour going into Sunday night.

James Eastham says: “St Etienne have been in awful form since the start of 2021-22 and their chances of stopping a vastly superior Lyon side winning are slim.

“St Etienne are W0-D3-L5 for the season and their performance at home to Nice (3-0 defeat) last weekend was arguably their worst of the campaign so far. Manager Claude Puel is under immense pressure and there’s talk he will be sacked if the hosts lose again here.

“Lyon have better players all over the pitch and will strongly expect to pick up all three points. They began the season slowly but their form has improved and they head into this match in confident mood.

“Thanks to two Karl Toko Ekambi goals and a Houssem Aouar strike they were comfortable 3-0 home winners vs Brondby in the Europa League on Thursday night. Lyon have won five and drawn one of their last six matches against anyone but PSG in all competitions so this short trip (60km) to face their nearest rivals will hold no fears for them.”

James’s bet: Back Lyon to win at St Etienne @ 1.84/5
