We needed a storming finish in Belgium last night, but all we got was a trickle. Belgium were 3-1 up against Estonia after 74 minutes, and we needed one more goal to land our bet, but it stubbornly refused to arrive. Belgium hit the post twice and had ten shots on target, so it should really have been a more comfortable win.
We’ll wrap up the week in Armenia now, as Germany finish a successful campaign in the World Cup qualifiers. Hansi Flick has become the first Germany boss to win his first six matches, rescuing what was a shaky start to the 2022 qualification campaign under his predecessor Joachim Löw. In his six games in charge, the ex-Bayern boss has seen his side score 27 goals, including the nine they put past Liechtenstein last time out.
Armenia’s campaign has ended in rather limp fashion. At one stage it seemed as though they might sneak into second spot, but a 6-0 hammering in Germany sparked a collapse. They drew 1-1 with Liechtenstein, and this week’s 5-0 home defeat to North Macedonia was a brutal blow which well and truly killed off their chances of booking a ticket to Qatar.
If Leroy Sane starts, I would back him to score at any time on the Sportsbook at 2.47/5. The Bayern winger is in top form for club and country, with 12 goals in his last 20 appearances. If Sane isn’t in the XI, simply back Germany -2.0 on the Asian Handicap at 1.768/11. Germany won the reverse fixture 6-0, and should win this dead rubber with room to spare.
