Ajax start with big win
Ajax will be looking to build upon their bright start in Group C, when they host Besiktas on Tuesday evening.
The Dutch giants are the early leaders of the group, having won their opening game 5-1 at Sporting Lisbon. The margin of victory was a big surprise. Sporting are the reigning champions of Portugal and had just drawn with Porto in their previous game.
Sebastien Haller scored four of Ajax’s five goals that night and now has nine goals in eight games this season, having signed from West Ham in January. Since the win against Lisbon, the goals have carried on flowing for Ajax, beating Cambuur 9-0, Fortuna Sittard 5-0 and at the weekend, Groningen 3-0.
Besiktas lost 2-1 on Friday against Altay, who moved to the top of the Super Lig, a point ahead of Sergen Yalcin’s team. They were also defeated in their first Champions League game, losing 2-1 at home to Borussia Dortmund and now face another tough fixture, as they look for their first points.
Two solid options for Ajax win
Ajax are the big favourites at 1.171/6, with the draw at 8.88/1 and a Besiktas win at 19.018/1.
With the form that Ajax are in right now, it seems more of a matter of how they will win this match, rather than if they will. Ajax have won each of their last six games, with the goal they conceded against Sporting Lisbon, being the only one that they’ve let in during that run.
You can back Ajax to win to nil at 1.768/11. Ajax won both halves in all six of those victories and you can get odds of 2.35/4 for them to do so again.
