The Daily Acca: Burnley to get the job done back on home soil

Paul Robinson had success yesterday as his 5/1 Daily Acca winner landed overnight and he’s back with another 5/1 shot. Here are his selections:

Goals at both ends in Switzerland

Bet 1: Back BTTS in FC Basel v Vitesse @ 8/11 – KO 19:00 BST

The hosts scored a vital last minute goal in the first leg of this tie in Holland as they won the game 1-0. Marcel Koller’s side are now in the driving seat for a place in the play-off round, and they appear to be in better form than they were when they were knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers.

Vitesse won’t go down without a fight though and they will be dangerous in the attacking third. They may have failed to find the net in the home leg, but they put five past Groningen on Sunday, which will fill them with confidence.

I see this being quite an open game and with the Dutch side needing to chase it, I am hopeful of both teams scoring.

Gerrard’s men to keep it tight

Bet 2: Back Under 2.5 Goals in NK Maribor v Rangers @ 8/13 – KO 19:45 BST

Lassana Coulibaly knocked in a crucial third goal at Ibrox last week, meaning that Rangers travel to Slovenia knowing that they can still progress with a one goal defeat.

Given that knowledge, I expect Steven Gerrard to set up quite defensively and not take any undue risks. They kept a clean sheet against St Mirren in a 2-0 win on Sunday – and that was despite being reduced to 10 men after 31 minutes. It’s also worth noting that they kept clean sheets in both of their Europa League away fixtures this season – a 0-0 draw and a 1-0 victory.

NK Maribor were involved in the Champions League group stage last season so they will be quite disappointed to go out in this round of the Europa League (if they do indeed exit the competition tonight).

Despite needing to win by two goals, I can’t see them going for broke from the off as a 2-0 win would suffice, and conceding an away goal would severely damage their chances. A further point in our favour is that four of their five in the Europa League this season have seen this selection land.

Clarets to edge through at Turf Moor

Bet 3: Back Burnley @ 6/5 – KO 19:45 BST

The first leg in Turkey finished 0-0 last week and while they didn’t get an away goal, that’s not a bad result for Burnley. They also drew 0-0 in their Premier League opener on Sunday, so although there are still concerns over their attack, the defence appear to be on top of their game.

The visitors knocked made it through to the group stage last season, and although they managed to take eight points from their six outings, they still finished third behind Braga and Ludogorets.

Abdullah Avcı’s side finished third in the Turkish Super League last year and although they only narrowly missed out on the title, it isn’t the strongest league in the world and Burnley have proved to be excellent at Turf Moor in recent seasons.
