We’re heading to Turkey tonight, as Kev’s looking for an odds-against winner in the Europa League as two teams aim to bounce back from 4-0 defeats.
Istanbul Basaksehir v Borussia Monchengladbach

That samba style wasn’t in evidence in Brazil last night, as Corinthians won 1-0 at Chapecoense to leave us a couple of goals short.
We’ll zoom to Turkey now, and the wonderful city of Istanbul. Istanbul Basaksehir are playing Borussia Monchengladbach in the Europa League, and both teams need the win after dreadful starts to the group stage.
While Basaksehir have beaten the odds to mount a title push in the last couple of seasons, they have never really taken this competition particularly seriously. They didn’t even qualify for the group stage last season, and in the campaign before, they failed to escape the group stage. They have played 15 Europa League matches, and have won just twice.
Basaksehir were smacked 4-0 by Roma on Matchday One, while Borussia Monchengladbach lost by the same scoreline at home to Austrian side Wolfsberger. It’s hard to imagine how the Foals could have been any worse that night, but in the Bundesliga they have played really well, and they have won all three of their away games. They have conceded just one goal across those three road matches, and they have scored seven times. French strikers Marcus Thuram and Alassane Plea are starting to dovetail beautifully, and former Salzburg right-back Stefan Lainer has been outstanding.
Gladbach will have to take this game incredibly seriously, and new Foals coach Marco Rose has a chance to put things right against an Istanbul Basaksehir side with an awful record in this competition. Back the visitors to in.
