Barcelona have added experience to their attack, Luis Diaz is a quality signing, and the Brazilians shone on international duty. It’s all discussed in this week’s Rivaldo exclusive…
“I’m sure they are eager to take this opportunity at Barcelona to relaunch their careers, and I believe they will be a good solution in a tough period for the club.”
Barcelona signed two players right before the transfer window closing in an attempt to add more value to their attack.
Both striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and winger Adama Traore bring a lot of quality and experience from English football that could be very helpful to a squad in a renovation phase, that is still looking to find the balance between their young players and more experienced ones.
Both players were losing some influence on their Premier League clubs and I’m sure they are eager to take this opportunity at Barcelona to relaunch their careers, and I believe they will be a good solution in a tough period for the club.
In such a hard time for the club financially as well as on pitch, any new player that the club manage to bring in will be important. However, despite the new arrivals I still don’t think the club will be challenging for the title or Champions League soon as internal problems must be fixed before that become possible again.
With Luis Diaz at the club, Jurgen Klopp has better options in his attack
Liverpool signed Colombian attacker Luis Diaz who has been excellent at FC Porto in both the Portuguese League and Champions League, and I think the club’s decision to sign him now is intended to offer Jurgen Klopp more options in the attack.
With the Colombian in the squad, Klopp can manage his most used players like Sadio Mane and Mo Salah which will contribute to keeping them at their peak form when the time for big Premier League and Champions League games arrive.
Diaz has a lot of quality and will certainly be an excellent secret weapon on many occasions at Anfield.
Barca must respect Dembéle’s contract and play him
It’s a shame that Ousman Dembéle continues to lose opportunities to establish himself at Barcelona because he is a fantastic player who has already had enough time to adapt to the club, but for one reason or another it’s still not happening for him.
Now, when his exit looked almost certain he remains at the club at least until the end of season and I think that the club should make an effort to play him since he is still under contract and needs to be professional.
When the season ends then it will be time to evaluate the options for a transfer, to do things the right way and not leave him out of the team for a significant time for internal or disciplinary reasons.
He is a great talent who still owes the club some good performances, and I hope he has that on his mind right now and makes an effort to help the club through a difficult time in their history.
Premier League’s Brazilian stars show their class
There were many Brazilian players from the Premier League playing for their national team this week. They took advantage of the opportunity to show their value to the team and keep on track for making the World Cup squad.
Philippe Coutinho, Raphinha, Bruno Guimarães and Alex Telles confirmed their class, but I must also note Antony’s performance. The Ajax player seems ready to make a big move to a Premier League club as well soon.
