Fantasy Premier League expert Holly Shand outlines five standout performers who could reward a transfer into your FPL team and a winning bet in Gameweek 18…
“In eight away trips, Salah has nine goals and six assists, averaging almost two attacking returns per game. Add into the mix clean sheet points too, he’s a force to be reckoned with.”
The Goalscorer Bet: Raheem Sterling – Newcastle United (A)
Raheem Sterling left his owners reeling in midweek when he failed to feature in Manchester City’s 7-0 demolition of Leeds United. However, that rest means he’s a more likely starter for a plum tie against Newcastle United.
Sterling has been in fine form in recent weeks, with three goals and one assist in his last five starts. He’s had 11 shots and created 13 chances over this period, demonstrating his ability for goals and assists.
Sterling is available to back at 5/1 to score two or more goals against Newcastle United this weekend.
The Assist Pick: Ollie Watkins – Burnley (H)
Ollie Watkins is a forward in-form right now, with three goals and one assist from his last six starts. With Danny Ings now back from injury, we will see their link up play come to the fore under Steven Gerrard.
Aston Villa face a Burnley side who’ve conceded 21 goals this season, keeping just three clean sheets. Meanwhile, Villa have scored five goals in their last four games and are benefiting from a new manager bounce.
Watkins is available to back at 4/1 to assist against Burnley on Saturday.
The Penalty Bet: Mo Salah – Spurs (A)
Talking of Mo Salah, he looks to be a great option once again this Sunday as Liverpool visit Spurs. He’s been in phenomenal form all season, particularly away from Anfield – he’s never blanked.
In eight away trips, Salah has nine goals and six assists, averaging almost two attacking returns per game. Add into the mix clean sheet points too, he’s a force to be reckoned with. He’s also on spot kicks – Spurs have conceded two this campaign.
You can bet on Salah to score a penalty against Spurs at odds of 3/1.
The Clean Sheet Bet: Reece James – Wolves (A)
Reece James has been a big talking point in FPL this season, having amassed an attacking return a game so far, with four goals and four assists at the time of writing. He’s seen his ownership rise, thriving in the attacking wing-back role under Tuchel.
Wolves have failed to score in four of their last five games and come up against a Chelsea defence ranked third in the Premier League for clean sheets this season. Another clean sheet should be on the cards in this one.
Chelsea are available to back at 11/8 to to win to nil against Wolves this weekend.
The Odds-Against Goalscorer Bet: Emile Smith Rowe – Leeds (A)
Emile Smith Rowe hasn’t been a mainstay of the Arsenal starting eleven since going off with an injury against Manchester United but that hasn’t stopped him. He scored in a 24 minute substitute appearance against West Ham.
He’s now on six goals for the season and continues to provide incredible value. Surely he will be due a start against a Leeds United side who’ve conceded seven goals to Manchester City? They are missing some key personnel.
Back Smith Rowe to score against Leeds at 7/2 in Gameweek 18.
