Fantasy Premier League Week 3 Transfers & Tips: It’ll be Ilkay on the night

It’s week three of the Fantasy Premier League season and panic might be setting in for some managers. Neil Monnery is here to give you some pointers ahead of this round of games…

Danny Ings – £5.5m. That price reflects the fact he was at best only to be a bench player at Liverpool. A deadline day move to Southampton and the probably of getting a lot more significant action means he is criminally undervalued.

Eight to like

Ilkay Gündogan – £5.5m. The player who should benefit most from the Kevin De Bruyne injury is the 27 year-old German. He didn’t get an assist or score in the 6-1 mauling of Huddersfield but watching the game, he popped up in the penalty box on many occasions. At £5.5m, he has become a terrific fourth midfielder option.

Ilkay Gündogan is available at 10/3 to score anytime in Wolves v Manchester City (Sportsbook)

Eden Hazard – £10.5m. If you want to spend big money in midfield however, I’m starting to think Eden Hazard is going to have a season to remember. The high-press that Maurizio Sarri wants his team to play is perfect for the former Player of the Year. After two bench appearances and two assists, I think he starts at Newcastle on Sunday and I think he wows.

Aleksandar Mitrovic – £6.5m. That third striker spot is always where you look to find a player who’ll score 10-12 a season but more importantly, you want great match-ups. I’m a big Burnley guy defensively but the Europa League is going to hurt them. A trip to the Cottage on Sunday after a Thursday night game in Greece is not favourable. I really like the 23 year-old to score for the second week running.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is available at 13/2 to score two or more in Fulham v Burnley (Sportsbook)

Ryan Sessegnon – £6.4m. Pretty much exactly the same as above. Burnley conceded three at home to Watford last Sunday. This week it could be far worse. The 18 year-old is Fulham’s creative spark so a good haul of fantasy points is very plausible at a dirt cheap price.

Joseph Gomez – £5.0m. Two clean sheets to open up the season for Liverpool and Brighton at home next looks good for a third. The England youngster has been Virgil van Dijk’s central defensive partner and has looked the part. Getting those defenders from top clubs who play for £5.0m is always a good move – and it’s an added bonus that only 0.9% of Fantasy Premier League teams have Gomez.

Danny Ings – £5.5m. That price reflects the fact he was at best only to be a bench player at Liverpool. A deadline day move to Southampton and the probability of getting a lot more significant action means he is criminally undervalued. Leicester travel to St. Mary’s on Saturday afternoon and Ings is a great fantasy play.

Danny Ings is available at 9/5 to score anytime in Southampton v Leicester City (Sportsbook)

Ryan Fraser – £5.5m. Travel through the New Forest from Southampton you’ll reach Bournemouth and they are a hotbed of fantasy likes at the moment. Callum Wilson has scored two weeks running but Ryan Fraser has nabbed a goal and assist from those two games as well. He’s only £5.5m.

Christian Eriksen – £9.5m. The Dane has done nothing fantasy wise so far this season but that simply cannot last. Having watched Manchester United attempt to defend last week at Brighton, I expect big things from the likes to Eriksen, Alli and Kane on Monday night.

Two to avoid

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – £4.1m. With a whopping 21.3% of teams selecting the Crystal Palace youngster, he is the fourth most picked defender. Long-term I love his value but that late red card against Liverpool means he won’t play this week. If you don’t have him yet, wait until he’s back.

Marcus Rashford – £6.9m. I’m still struggling to understand how Rashford has been picked by 9.2% of teams. In the second half of last season, he was a fantasy afterthought and this time around not much better.

If you think I’m wrong, Marcus Rashford is available at 9/4 to score anytime in Manchester United v Spurs (Sportsbook)

Captain’s pick

The usual suspects will make up the vast majority of captain’s picks this week. Liverpool at home to Brighton puts the likes of Salah, Firmino and Mané very much into the mix. I think Spurs could heap more misery on to Jose Mourinho so like their attacking options. Man City at Wolves also has lots of potential. It should be a high scoring week with big names up against questionable defences.
