Fantasy Premier League expert Holly Shand outlines five standout performers who could reward a transfer into your FPL team and a winning bet in Double Gameweek 28…
“A change in personnel at Leeds United brings hopes of a new manager bounce.”
The Goalscorer Bet: Che Adams – Aston Villa (A), Newcastle (H)
Southampton’s Che Adams is among the form players in the Premier League right now, having delivered four attacking returns in his last four starts (three goals and one assist). Saints are unbetaen in 2022 and have a kind pair of fixtures against Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
Adams has had 12 shots on goal over the last four gameweeks, converting his three goals from four big chances. He’s also created six chances for his team-mates, showing his potential to accumulate both goals and assists.
The Assist Bet: Philippe Coutinho – Southampton (H), Leeds (A)
It’s been an impressive return to the Premier League for Coutinho, with two goals and two assists already. We’ve seen consistent minutes from him in an Aston Villa shirt and his returns have seen his ownership rise to above 20% in just two months.
There’s high hopes that he can deliver a similar performance against Leeds United as he did in the reverse fixture in Gameweek 24. He finished that game with 16 fantasy points, having scored one goal and created another two. He scooped up all three bonus points.
The Penalty Bet: Raphinha – Leicester (A), Aston Villa (H)
A change in personnel at Leeds United brings hopes of a new manager bounce, with top performer Raphinha being the likely benificiary. He has already surpassed double digits for attacking returns this season, with nine goals and two assists.
With Bamford out long-term, Raphinha should remain on spot-kick duty. He has converted three penalties this season, with opponents Leicester and Aston Villa ranked joint second highest for penalties conceded, with six apiece. Raphinha scored in the reverse fixture against Leicester.
The Clean Sheet Bet: Antonio Rudiger – Burnley (A), Norwich (A)
Chelsea assets have been forgotten about in recent weeks due to tough fixtures and absence due to the Club World Cup, but they will be straight back on the agenda for their potential Double Gameweek against Burnley and Norwich. It’s a particularly kind pair of fixtures.
While nailing down an attacker to start both games under Thomas Tuchel will be tough, we can rely on Antonio Rudiger to be selected as a mainstay in this defence who have kept 11 clean sheets this season. Rudiger also has five attacking returns this campaign, including an assist in the reverse fixture against Norwich.
The Odds-Against Goalscorer Bet: Mo Salah – West Ham (H)
While it’s always easy to get wrapped up in the hype of a Double Gameweek, don’t forget about Mo Salah who has been a sensation this season. He has a home game which could be tricky to navigate, since in-form West Ham were victorious in the reverse fixture, winning 3-2.
Mo Salah is in fantastic form, with three goals and one assist over the last three gameweeks since returning from the African Cup of Nations. He’s top for big chances (6) in this spell and has also created three big chances. He has nine goals and three assists in nine Premier League appearances against the Hammers.
