Friday Football Tips: Back a low card count at Huddersfield

Our Friday props column is hoping for something of a love-in at Huddersfield as we’re going low on the card count…

Huddersfield v Stoke
Friday 28 January, 19:45 kick-off

Huddersfield are clinging on to that final play-off spot in the Championship after an epic 4-3 win at Reading last time out, now they’ll hope to boost their chances as they face a Stoke side in a sticky patch of form.

Stoke have lost four of their last five in the Championship while the Terriers are unbeaten in eight with four wins and four draws.

Huddersfield are obvious favourites, but stats to note include them mainly being involved in close games – their last seven wins in all competitions have been by just a single goal.

Carlos Corberan’s side have only failed to score twice in the last 10, but they’ve also kept just two clean sheets in that period – with both teams coming in seven times.

It’s to the bookings market we go for this one today though, but not in the usual form as this time when going through recent results we actually fancy this game could turn out rather good natured.

Stoke are quite high up on the bookings charts, but they’ve been on their best behaviour recently on the road with just one booking in each of their last three away games.

Huddersfield at home, meanwhile, have had precisely zero cards in two of their last four home games, while QPR, Blackpool and Sheff Utd have all hosted Stoke and picked up no cards in the game.

There’s obviously volatility here and one flash point could see the yellows coming out in a hurry, but under 2.5 cards in the game here brings a nice return with some decent very recent stats to back it up.
