It’s Friday night action from the Bundesliga, Championship and League Two for Paul Robinson’s Daily Acca, and the treble can be backed at 10/1. Here are his selections:
No clean sheets in Germany
Bet 1: Back BTTS in Wolfsburg v Mainz @ 8/11 – KO 19:30 BST
Wolfsburg are on the slide following four defeats in their last five games, but with a six point cushion to the relegation places, they have probably done enough already to survive.
Mainz are in ninth place, and that’s really the best they can hope for now, as they are six points behind Hoffenheim in eighth. They are winless in four though, and there are other teams stacked up behind them.
I am going for both teams to score in this one. It’s a selection that has landed in all of the visitors’ last seven away games, and 11 of their last 12.
The hosts had been struggling to find the net, but they have now scored five across their last two, and they rarely fail to grab a goal on their own patch.
Barnsley to have their fate sealed
Bet 2: Back Huddersfield 8/13 – KO 19:45 BST
The Terriers have well and truly put their little blip behind them and they should have no problem in beating the Tykes tonight.
Barnsley are bottom of the Championship, and anything other than a win this evening will confirm their relegation. Even if they do somehow take the three points, they are basically down anyway.
Huddersfield, meanwhile, are up in third, and while they won’t catch Bournemouth for automatic promotion, they will secure their Play-off place with a victory.
Newport to flop again
Bet 3: Back Colchester to Win or Draw @ 1/1 – KO 19:45 BST
Newport County are odds-on to win tonight, but I just can’t see it given their recent form.
I guess the angle here is that the favourites can still get into the Play-offs, while Colchester in 19th have nothing to play for, but football doesn’t always work like that.
The hosts have won just one of their last six – losing on four occasions – and at Rodney Parade it’s three straight defeats.
The U’s, meanwhile, beat Bradford 3-0 at the weekend, and have won four of their last eight on their travels.
