Former-Leicester and Chelsea boss never goes above odds-on to be next in at Vicarage Road after Xisco was sacked on Sunday
Claudio Ranieri never went above odds of 1.75/7 to become Watford’s next manager after the club’s owner Gino Pozzo family pulled the trigger on Xisco Munoz’s 10 month reign at Vicarage Road.
Munoz, who got the club promoted from the Championship last season, becomes the first Premier League manager to lose his job the season and the winner of so-called sack race following Watford’s 1-0 defeat to Leeds.
The Hornets board have moved quickly to find potential successor and reportedly in talks with Ranieri about taking over.
Ranieri cannot be backed in the Exchange market on the next Watford manager.
Eddie Howe, Paulo Fonseca and Frank Lampard are all in the market but it Ranieri is the only serious candidate.
Now 69, the Italian first managed Chelsea from 2000-2004 and endured a miserable tenure at Fulham from 2018 to ’19. He is most famous, however, for guiding Leicester City to Premier League title winning glory in 2016 against all odds.
His las job was at Sampdoria which left earlier this year.
Hornets odds-on for relegation
Watford are 15th in the table but they are
1.758/11 to be relegated with only Norwich 1.3130/100 a shorter price.
Pozzo will aim to have a new manager installed by the end of the international break and ready to take charge in the club’s next match at home to Liverpool on 16 October.
