We’ve got FPL Gameweek 7 Tips from our expert Holly Shand, including Lukaku who has great upcoming fixtures. Get her take on the players to add to your squad…
“We’ve been eyeing up Chelsea’s kind fixture schedule for weeks and now it’s finally here.”
The Headline Pick: Romelu Lukaku – Southampton (H)
We’ve been eyeing up Chelsea’s kind fixture schedule for weeks and now it’s finally here: Southampton, Brentford, Norwich, Newcastle and Burnley in the next five games, with three of those fixtures at Stamford Bridge.
Now could be a great time to pick up Romelu Lukaku: he’s scored three goals in five games since returning to Chelsea. Lukaku has had 15 shots since Gameweek 2, with 14 of those coming inside the box.
Lukaku has a great record against Southampton, with nine goals and three assists in 12 Premier League appearances against the Saints. Southampton are looking good defensively though: they’ve conceded just 11 shots on target – only Manchester City can better them.
Lukaku is available to back at 3/1 to to score two or more goals against Southampton this weekend.
The Budget Pick: Ismaila Sarr – Leeds United (A)
Ismaila Sarr is the third highest scoring midfielder in the game right now, having racked up three goals in his last two games, with Watford having a particularly good run of fixtures.
That trend continues with Leeds United up next for the Hornets. Leeds have conceded 52 goal attempts in the box over their last four games, which ranks them highest for all Premier League sides.
Sarr has registered nine shots on target over this period, only Mo Salah has taken more shots. Sarr is also ranked second for big chances over this spell with 5. He’s the talisman of this side and also on penalties.
The VAR Pick: Cristiano Ronaldo – Everton (H)
We learnt last weekend that Ronaldo wasn’t first choice penalty taker for Manchester United, but given Bruno Fernandes skied his crucial attempt into row Z, you can bet Ronaldo will be on spot-kicks from now on.
Ronaldo has been dominant since arriving at Old Trafford: he’s top for shots with 17 and has converted three of his five big chances into goals. You can’t argue with his record of three goals in three games in the Premier League.
You can back VAR and bet on Manchester United to score a penalty against Everton at odds of 16/5.
The Sleeper Pick: Raul Jimenez – Newcastle United (H)
Raul Jimenez had been knocking on the door of attacking returns for several weeks and finally broke his scoring duck with the winning goal against Southampton, which he created for himself and put away spectacularly.
It was an important moment for the Mexican having missed nearly a year with a horrible head injury. He’s had four big chances in his last four games, with nine key passes so there’s signs he can continue returning as his confidence returns.
Up next for Wolves is a Newcastle United side with plenty of defensive problems: they’ve conceded the most goal attempts (80) of any side over their last four games. Jimenez scored in this fixture last season.
The Wildcard Pick: Michail Antonio – Brentford (H)
Antonio was back in the goals last weekend on his return from suspension and now has nine attacking returns for the season, putting him as the second highest scoring player in the game. That’s all the more impressive given he had a red card and only played five games.
West Ham are the heavy favourites to prevail against Brentford, although the Bees have impressed defensively this campaign. They did concede three times to Liverpool last weekend though, conceding nine big chances in their last four games.
Back Antonio to score against Brentford at 6/5 in Gameweek 7.
