“The gulf between the sides is underlined by 1.845/6 on the Chelsea win – a staggering price for the Blues on their London rivals’ patch.”
Here’s a quick preview of what’s coming up in the five top leagues in Europe this weekend. You’ll be able to get tips for all of the matches mentioned below so check out what our experts have to say about over the next few days.
Mainz v Freiburg
Saturday, 14:30
These two might not have the status of Bayern Munich, the cache of RB Leipzig or the romance of Borussia Dortmund but Mainz and Freiburg have been two of the most impressive teams in the Bundesliga so far this season. As a result, they sit fourth and fifth in the table respectively ahead of their Saturday afternoon meeting. Mainz 2.0811/10 have kept two clean sheets in a row while Freiburg 3.55 scored three on their last away trip in the German top flight. Only a point separates them in the table and the draw is 3.55 here.
Tottenham v Chelsea
Sunday, 16:30
Tottenham will need to defend with a lot more nous than they did in their 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace if they’re to contain Romelu Lukaku. The Chelsea striker has scored four goals since returning to Stamford Bridge and looks like a man on a mission. Spurs, however, have already beaten Man City here this season and will look to summon the kind of strength and concentration that saw them through that day. The gulf between the sides is underlined by 1.845/6 on the Chelsea win – a staggering price for the Blues on their London rivals’ patch, even if the visitors will have enjoyed two days’ extra rest. You can get 4.84/1 on the hosts.
Juventus v AC Milan
Sunday, 19:45
Juventus have taken one point from their first three matches and sit 16th in the Serie A table. The good news for Massimiliano Allegri, however, is that his team got their first win of the season when beating Malmo 3-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday.
He will be hoping that victory will kickstart their season. Juve are 2.245/4 to collect three points but it won’t be easy against a Milan 3.3512/5 side that have won three out of three.
Paris Saint-Germain v Lyon
Sunday, 19:45
It’s looking ominous for Paris Saint-Germain’s rivals in Ligue 1. They’ve played five and won five and are 1.111/9 to reclaim the title. Fans should get to see Lionel Messi, after he missed last week’s win over Clermont, and that can only be bad news for Lyon. They have won their last two, after a patchy start, but they have kept only one clean sheet so Kylian Mbappe will fancy his chances of adding to his four league goals. It doesn’t help that Lyon play Rangers on Thursday night.
Valencia v Real Madrid
Sunday, 20:00
Second hosts first in La Liga on Sunday night as Real Madrid – the title favourites at 2.3211/8 – head to the coast to play Valencia. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are the early favourites at even money. The Italian will be pleased with the way his side have started the season in attack but conceding six goals in four league matches is a cause for concern. Los Che, meanwhile, were rampant last time out in a 4-1 win at Osasuna so goals could be on the menu and over 2.5 is 1.814/5.
