Ah, the final-day, both-teams-to-score acca.

The Betfair traders will doubtless already by keeping an eye on their liability ahead of Sunday’s Premier League finale.

They probably don’t need to worry but a similar bet on the final round of Swiss Super League games has a much greater chance of paying out. OK, it might sound a bit like a mug’s bet but hear me out – there’s solid reasoning here.

For a start, there are only 10 teams in the Swiss top flight so it’s just a five-fold bet.

Perhaps most importantly, the Super League is one of Europe’s best when it comes to both teams to score – it’s landed in 57% of games so far in 2020/21. For reference, the Premier League is at 49%.

I also like the fact that only two of the five games have anything riding on them. One of Sion and Vaduz will be automatically relegated, the other will head into a play-off.

In those matches, both sides have to come out an attack at some point and with both defences having struggled, BTTS could easily land.

It’s also a big positive that the best teams in the division have nothing at stake so the likes of champions Young Boys can play with freedom – winning 5-1 will mean much more than a narrow 1-0 victory and also seems much more likely.

So where are the potential issues?

Well, Vaduz are the lowest scorers but their need for goals has already been highlighted, while Young Boys have the best defence but more than half of their games this season have landed the BTTS bet. They are at fifth-placed Lausanne.

Luzern v Lugano is arguably the problem fixture – the visitors have been involved in the fewest BTTS games (44%).

However, here they face the team with the highest such figure (77%) so even this looks to have plenty of potential for both teams finding the net.

Admittedly this five-fold has only landed twice in 35 matchdays so far, although it’s also missed out by a single goal on no fewer than seven occasions.

The relaxed final-day attitude in a competition renowned for it’s lack of clean sheets could swing things the punter’s way and while odds of 47/10 won’t suit everyone, it does look a tempting play.
