Parma v Sassuolo
Sunday 16 May, 17:00
They say everything comes to he who waits, but we pushed that principle to breaking point last night in France. We needed three goals to land our bet, and thanks to a late flurry from Paris FC in a 3-0 win (goals in the 89th and 90th minutes) we got what we came for. Chambly weren’t so happy, as they tumbled into the third tier.
We’ll wrap up a choppy week in Italy, because Parma are up against Sassuolo in Serie A, and there’s every reason to think the away side are worth supporting.
Sassuolo have been outstanding under enterprising coach Roberto De Zerbi, and the boss has seemingly earned himself a summer move to Ukrainian giants and regular Champions League contenders Shakhtar Donetsk. Before he heads east, he wants to leave the Neroverdi as a top-seven club, but only a win gives them a chance of catching Roma.
Sassuolo are chasing a fourth consecutive away victory, having beaten Benevento, Milan and Genoa. A midweek defeat at home to Juventus was an understandable setback, but in general, De Zerbi’s men have won five of their last seven in the top flight.
Parma have been relegated already thanks to a complete loss of form at the worst possible time. A run of seven straight defeats has seen them sink to the foot of the standings, and they have conceded 21 goals in the process at an average of three per game. If you look at their home matches, they have lost ten of the last 12.
There are two ways to play this. You can back Sassuolo -1.0 on the Asian Handicap at 1.845/6, which gives you a winner if they win by two goals or more, and returns your stake in the event of a one-goal win. Alternatively, you can use the Sportsbook’s Bet Builder to back Sassuolo to win and Over 2.5 Goals at 1.845/6 (13 of Parma’s last 16 games have featured three goals or more), but that doesn’t cover a 1-0 or 2-0 Sassuolo victory.
