Athletic Bilbao can extend their streak of home wins in La Liga tonight, reckons Tobias Gourlay
Athletic Bilbao v Celta Vigo
Friday 20:00 (Live on LaLigaTV)
In Norway yesterday, one defence went missing but the other stood firm. Grorud blanked for the first time on the road this season and lost 0-2 at Jerv to sink our BTTS bet.
We’ve come to Spain today for the Friday-night match from La Liga. Ninth-placed Athletic Bilbao entertain 18th-placed Celta Vigo and, at an odds-against price, we fancy the hosts to rack up a fourth straight home win.
Gaizka Garitano’s home side are W3-D0-L1 at San Mames this term. They’ve won the last three Liga games there by a combined 8-1. Under Garitano they have now won 20/35, including 8/11 against teams that finished in the bottom six in previous seasons.
Celta Vigo are third bottom right now. They’ve finished the last couple of campaigns in 17th – just one place above the drop zone. This season Celta are W0-D4-L2 on the road. Before losing 2-4 at Sevilla on their last road trip, however, they had played five teams that now hold a combined home record of W3-D13-L11. Athletic look much stronger than that right now and we’ll back them to send Celta packing this evening.
