Pressure on Kovac to oversee Bayern improvement

Bayern Munich will be looking to get back to winning ways on Wednesday when they host Crvena Zvezda.

The German champions could only draw 1-1 at the current Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig over the weekend. Though Bayern are unbeaten so far this season, they have twice dropped points in the space of four games (W2 D2).

There were times last season when the Bayern boss Niko Kovac looked in danger of being sacked, before things eventually stabilised and his team managed to take advantage of Borussia Dortmund’s loss of form and clinch the title. Bayern will now be looking for signs of improvement both domestically and in Europe. Experienced figures such as Rafinha, Mats Hummels, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben have all left the club, with a number of new recruits coming in that include Lucas Hernandez, Benjamin Pavard, Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic.

Bayern face opponents in Red Star that are also unbeaten in the league this season (P6 W6). The Serbians have had to come through four rounds of qualification to reach the group stage, beating Suduva, HJK, Copenhagen and Young Boys.

Red Star shine brightly at home, but dim on the road

Crvena Zvezda enjoyed some good results in the group stage of the Champions League last season, but their draw with Napoli and victory over the eventual winners Liverpool, both came at home.

On the road they lost all three games, being turned over 6-1 by PSG, 4-0 by Liverpool and 3-1 by Napoli. With Bayern having beaten Mainz 6-1 in their last home match, over 3.5 goals should certainly land at [1.76] and you might want to consider over 4.5 goals at [2.66].
