Premier League Transfers Update: Spurs and United exploring options

With a little over 24 hours to go until the transfer window closes for Premier League clubs, Tottenham Hotspur look set to be at the centre of frenetic activity.

Madrid clubs most likely to sign Eriksen

Christian Eriksen’s future remains uncertain. Manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly happy for Eriksen to leave after the Dane said earlier this summer that he wanted a fresh challenge. But where will he go?

Real Madrid was his first choice destination but the Spanish club are 11/4 to sign him before 5pm tomorrow. Manchester United made enquiries but are now 9/1 following reports they’ve ended their interest. Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, are 8/1 and could be smart choice for the play-maker if Diego Simeone’s club come in for him.

Eriksen, though, will be disappointed to see that he is odds-on at 1/3 to remain at Spurs beyond this transfer window.

Are Spurs about to land Dybala?

Paulo Dybala look destined for Old Trafford a few days ago but, after the Argentinian’s move to United broke down, Tottenham now look like his most likely destination, with a £64m bid said to be near completion:

On Betfair Sportsbook, Dybala to Spurs is 5/6 – the same price on offer for the player staying at Juventus – so it now looks to be a real possibility that the Argentine will wear the Lilywhite shirt in 2019/20.

But are Spurs willing to meet the player’s wage demands which were reportedly a factor in United pulling out? Perhaps Daniel Levy has worked out a way of accommodating Dybala, who would surely thrive under compatriot Pochettino, without compromising the fiscal responsibility that makes Spurs a sensibly well run club. One thing is for sure – we should find out.

Coutinho scrambling for Nou Camp exit

Remember just over 18 months ago when Philipe Coutinho left Liverpool for Barca? The Brazilian was expected to be a hit at Camp Nou while Liverpool, sans their talisman, would surely suffer. Now the Reds are European champions and Coutinho is casting around for a club to end his Barca nightmare before tomorrow’s deadline.

He’s reportedly refused a move to Spurs and is 5/2 to sign for Arsenal. United, meanwhile, are 33/1. He’s just turned 27 and remains a devastating player on his day. Surely Coutinho can find a top club? The market thinks not, making him 8/13 to still be at Barca come tapas time in Catalonia on Thursday.

And the rest…

Wilf he? Won’t he? Transfer speculation concerning Wilfried Zaha has been swirling for months, years even, but Crystal Palace have reportedly told Everton that they will only sell the players for £100m. The market makes the Toffees 11/4 to come up with the money by 5pm tomorrow (he’s gone but perhaps not that good?) and 1/5 to remain in south London.

James Tarkowski, meanwhile, looks Leicester bound at 1/2 while Kieran Tierney is 1/9 to sign for Arsenal.
