Tobias Gourlay reckons FC Basel versus Lask Linz could be the pick of tonight’s Champions League qualifiers
FC Basel v Lask Linz

In Iceland yesterday, defences stood unusually firm as Hafnarfjordur beat IA Akranes 1-0 to bring down our BTTS bet.
Today we turn to the Champions League for the first time this season. One of this evening’s five qualifiers sees Austria’s Lask Linz travel to FC Basel of Switzerland for what might be the most exciting of these often unexciting first legs.
In the previous second qualifying round, Basel scraped past PSV Eindhoven on away goals after their tie finished 4-4 on aggregate. Their three league matches this season have finished 4-1, 1-2 and 3-2, which means all five of their competitive games this term have delivered Over 2.5 Goals. In the Champions League (including group stages of the competition proper) 7/8 matches at St Jakob Park have produced Over 2.5 Goals.
This is Lask Linz’s first appearance at Europe’s top table. In Austria’s Bundesliga, they have scored in 16/17 away games since the start of last season. Eleven of those matches delivered Over 2.5 Goals and, with Basel’s strong trends also on side, we’re backing another high scorer this evening.
