Irish to get an away goal
Bet 1: Back BTTS in Apollon v Shamrock Rovers @ 6/5 – KO 18:00 BST
Shamrock Rovers did much better than I thought they would do in the first leg in Dublin, as despite falling behind early on, they roared back to win the game 2-1.
Conceding an away goal is of course a bit of an issue, as I very much doubt that they will be able to hold the Cypriots to a 0-0 draw in Limassol, but they are very much in the tie.
The hosts are red-hot favourites to get the victory this evening, and while I do expect them to win, I quite fancy Stephen Bradley’s side to score a goal.
The Hoops netted twice at Brann in the last round of this competition, and despite being knocked out by AIK last year, they still managed an away goal.
Rangers’ tie to meander to its conclusion
Bet 2: Back Under 2.5 Goals in Progrès Niederkorn v Rangers @ 6/5 – KO 18:30 BST
The first leg in Glasgow finished 2-0 to Rangers, which was definitely a narrower winning margin than what had been envisioned.
It will of course be more than enough to see them through, as there is little chance of them being beaten in Luxembourg, but it does lead me to believe that tonight’s fixture will be a relatively low-scoring affair.
Steven Gerrard’s men don’t need to do anything rash, and keeping a clean sheet will be one of their big priorities. They begin their SPL campaign on Sunday against Kilmarnock, so expect a low intensity performance that will likely lead to a 1-0 or 2-0 win for the Gers.
Don’s defence to continue to leak goals
Bet 3: Back BTTS in Aberdeen v Chikhura @ 11/10 – KO 19:45 BST
The Dons should join fellow Scots, Glasgow Rangers, in the next round of the Europa League, but after drawing 1-1 in Georgia in the first leg of this tie, it might not be as easy-a-ride.
Chikhura have the advantage of match-fitness over their opponents as their domestic season is well underway, and they have also had a nice little break since their last league outing.
The Georgians were knocked out by Maribor in this competition last year, but it was far from a thrashing, and they beat Folsa Esch in the previous round this season.
Aberdeen ran Burnley extremely close last term, but they eventually lost after extra time. Sean Dyche’s men scored at Pittodrie, as did RoPS in the last round of this year’s competition.
