The Daily Acca: Ceara to be struck down by Flu

Goals at a premium in Ireland

Bet 1: Back Under 2.5 Goals in UCD v Bohemians @ 11/10 – KO 19:45 BST

The Students have improved of late by ending a long losing run. They beat relegation rivals, Finn Harps, by a 1-0 scoreline, and then following that up with another clean sheet, in a 0-0 draw at the fourth placed, Derry City.

Their opponents this evening are third in the table, but they come into the game on the back of two 0-0 draws. They would have been disappointed not to do better than two points from those matches, and they won’t have it easy here.

Despite their struggles, UCD, have only conceded more than once in one of their last five on this ground, as their scorelines have been 0-2. 0-1. 0-1, 0-1 and 1-0 (most recently).

Bohemians, meanwhile, have played a dozen times away from home this season, and all but two of them have seen this selection land.

Flu to get on the move in Brazil

Bet 2: Back Fluminense @ 7/10 – KO 00:00 BST (Tues)

Fluminense have struggled so far this season, but they did at least go into the break for the Copa America on the back of two draws, and they did beat Cruzeiro here earlier in the campaign.

Ceara aren’t doing too much better themselves, but then they aren’t supposed to. Their form is going the other way, as after winning three of their opening six outings, they went into the break with just one point from a possible nine – and they didn’t score a single goal.

Away from home it’s three defeats from four for the visitors this term, and their sole victory came at bottom of the table, Avai.

Sport to enhance their promotion credentials

Bet 3: Back Sport Recife @ 7/5 – KO 00:00 BST (Tues)

The selection have only been beaten once since their relegation from the Brazilian top flight, and I would have them down as one of the likeliest league winners this year.

Guto Ferreira’s side are away from home tonight, and while they have only won one of their four away games this term, they have been scoring goals, which is always a positive.

A trip to the newly promoted, Cuiaba, shouldn’t prove too stern of a test, especially with the hosts having lost their two latest outings in front of their own fans.
