After a loss in Luxembourg, Kev hopes to be entertained in Norway.
“Odds have seen six of their last eight league matches feature at least three goals, and they average two goals per game at the Skagerak Arena.”
Title-chasers to produce a thriller
Odds v Stabaek
Wednesday 10 July, 18:00
A disaster in the duchy last night, as Dudelange led Valletta 2-0 after 64 minutes, only to collapse and concede twice in the next six minutes. It finished 2-2, and we’re forced to grit our teeth and move on.
We land in the Norwegian Eliteserien, because high-flying Odds are taking on Stabaek, who have picked up in recent weeks after a tricky start.
Odds have spent the last decade in the top flight, nailing down a couple of top-three finishes, but never managing to win the big prizes. They haven’t won a major trophy since lifting the Norwegian Cup in 2000.
This season, the side from Skien are only four points adrift of the leaders Molde, and they have two games in hand. They have won eight of their 13 league matches, although they have won just once in their last four outings.
Stabaek have won their last two away matches, and have climbed out of the dropzone. They have the worst attack in the league, with nine goals scored in 12 games, but it’s worth noting that their last five games in league and cup have yielded nine goals for them, so things are picking up.
Odds have been almost flawless at home, averaging two goals per game and dropping just two points at the Skagerak Arena. However, at [1.43] to win they don’t make for an overly attractive proposition against an improving side. Instead I’ll go for Over 2.5 Goals at [1.83] – six of Odds’ last eight Eliteserien games have featured at least three goals, while Stabaek have leaked three goals in three separate away matches already this season, and they are starting to grab a few goals themselves.
