Sunday Sports Multiple: A Wembley draw the headline in a 12/1 weekend wager

It’s play-off weekend in England and Scotland, and you can get all the latest tips and previews for the Bank Holiday weekend action on the Betfair football tips page.

The League One play-off between Charlton and Sunderland may not match the drama of their last play-off meeting; the 1998 First Division Play-Off Final, which ended 4-4 in normal time, but it could be a similarly close affair.

Only three points separated these teams in the League One table, and both teams built their success on solidity. Charlton conceded just four goals in their last ten games, while Sunderland’s tally of 19 draws was the highest in the division. Their last meeting ended in a 1-1 draw, and I think this game could go the distance as well.

There’s plenty of action for rugby fans to get stuck into this weekend and Betting.Betfair have you covered with their dedicated rugby league section.

Both of these teams are in need of a win, but St George/Illawara’s run of poor form is more serious. The Dragons have gone from title contenders to outsiders after four consecutive defeats and have been hit by a string of injuries.

Cronulla Sharks have been inconsistent so far and were guilty of making too many mistakes against Manly last time, but they’d won their two previous games, including an impressive 20-18 victory over Melbourne Storm, so assuming they tighten up in defence, they should be able to edge this one.

The World Cup will soon be upon us and while neither of these teams are considered to be in the top four, at least according to the betting, both have the potential to beat any opponent on their day, so this should be an interesting warm-up game.

South Africa are the favourites, thanks largely to an impressive series-winning record that has seen them taste victory in seven of their last eight, and a bowling line-up packed with pace and accuracy, along with the wily spin of Imran Tahir.

But the post AB De-Villiers Proteas look short on batting firepower and that could catch up with them. The West Indies need to find consistency if they are to go deep into the tournament, but Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmeyer, and Andre Russell are all big-hitting match-winners and they look good value for the win.
