After picking up four winners from seven selections last week, Kev’s hoping for further success today as he takes us to Denmark.
Hosts to take another step towards Europe
Esbjerg v Nordsjaelland
Monday 06 May, 18:00
It’s fair to say Eintracht Frankfurt boss Adi Hutter did us few favours yesterday, as he selected a weakened team and an unfamiliar gameplan, which led to an absolute hammering at Bayer Leverkusen. A frustrating end to what had been a bright week.
For those of you who love admin, I’m staying in the captain’s chair for another week, and Tobias will then be in charge for a fortnight while I swan around looking cool. We’re heading to Denmark this evening, because the Superliga season is speeding towards its conclusion, and Europa League qualification hopefuls Esbjerg are up against out-of-form Nordsjaelland.
Esbjerg are currently on course for a Europa League spot, but they must finish the season strongly to keep the chasing pack at arm’s length. EfB, who were only promoted from the second tier last season, have put together a run of three wins and two draws. They haven’t lost a league game since defeat to the runaway leaders Copenhagen at the end of March, and they haven’t been beaten at the Blue Water Arena since late November.
Nordsjaelland were in the top half of the table when the league split, but they seem a bit out of their depth in such esteemed company. They haven’t won any of their last six league games, and they have particular trouble against tonight’s opponents. They have faced Esbjerg twice already this season, and they have lost both games.
Esbjerg don’t tend to win by big margins, so we’ll back them with insurance by using the Draw No Bet market, but they are certainly worth supporting.
