Football Bet of the Day: Karlsruhe to go krazy

Tobias Gourlay is looking forward to a lively German 3 Liga game at Wildparkstadion tonight

Karlsruhe v Aalen
Wednesday 18:00

At Home Park last night, Plymouth beat Shrewsbury 2-1 to land our goals bet. Unfashionable as it is, we’re reaching out to the Continent today because there’s nowhere we’d rather be than southwestern Germany.

One of tonight’s five German 3 Liga matches sees bottom-of-the-table Aalen make the relatively short journey to second-placed Karlsruhe. The home side will reduce Osnabruck’s lead at the top to a single point if they win. Victory for the visitors would put them within touching distance of the rest of the league.

Karlsruhe are odds-on favourites, of course. No one in the league is scoring more regularly at home than them (25 goals in 13 games), but overall they are a slightly underwhelming W7-D3-L3 at the Wildparkstadion this term. What’s really catching our eye is the goals against column: they’ve conceded 17 times across those 13 matches. They’ve managed just one clean sheet in their last eight home appearances, with 6/8 games hitting Over 2.5 Goals in total.

Aalen have won only one of their first 14 away games of the campaign. They lost their away match 0-4, but do not quite look like no hopers for this one. They have actually scored in 5/6 on the road. At the other end, though, they have conceded at least twice in 6/7. With Karlsruhe looking good for at least a couple of goals and Aalen looking like they can contribute at least a consolation, we’re all over the [1.88] about Over 2.5 Goals.
