After a near-miss in France, Kev’s found a bet closer to home.
Duff to pick up another home win
Cheltenham Town v Cambridge United
Tuesday 19 February, 19:45
A frustrating start to the week in France, as Metz beat Beziers 1-0, leaving us a goal short on the Asian Handicap. A red card for the hosts early in the second half didn’t help our cause.
We’ll look for comfort at one of my old haunts, because Cheltenham Town are up against Cambridge United in League Two, with both teams edging towards safety.
I commentated on Cheltenham games for local radio in the days of Martin “Disco” Devaney, the wonderfully named Jamie Victory, Mark Yates, Russell Milton and Michael Duff. The latter is now the manager, and one of the things the former defender has been able to do is restore the Robins’ home form. Cheltenham have won four of their last seven matches at the Jonny Rocks Stadium (it’ll always be Whaddon Road to me), suffering just one home defeat in that spell.
Cambridge United are just a point ahead of Cheltenham, and their recent away form has been dreadful. They have lost six of their last seven away matches, and ten out of 15 overall. Their only away win in the last seven was at rock-bottom Notts County.
Cheltenham are chasing a third straight home victory, and they won the reverse fixture 1-0. I’ll back the Robins Draw No Bet here at [1.94].
